Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed optimism over the fitness of defensive duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof ahead of our game against Southampton on Sunday.
Both players suffered knocks and were taken off after an hour in our 4-1 win against Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Lindelof has been struggling with a back injury since the start of the season and he’s been playing through the pain.
The Swede was replaced by Axel Tuanzebe, while Wan-Bissaka was forced off with an ankle strain to be replaced by Brandon Williams.
Asked about the pair’s removal, Solskjaer said: “Yeah hopefully they are ready for the weekend but I’m not sure.
“It’s a back problem for Victor and he had an ankle problem Aaron.
“There’s no point taking more chances to risk more swelling to it.”
Meanwhile, we secured victory with goals from Daniel James, Marcus Rashford and a brace from Bruno Fernandes.
The win means United need a point from one of their next two fixtures against PSG and RB Leipzig to progress to the last-16.
