
Manchester United have paid tribute to Argentine legend Diego Maradona after news of his death was made public on Wednesday.
The Argentinian icon played against the club in a UEFA Cup winners cup quarter-finals clash against Barcelona in 1983/84 season.
Maradona inspired Barca to win the first leg 2-0, before the we fought back to win the second leg 3-0 and progress into the semi-finals.
The Argentine playmaker died at the age of 60 after a heart attack.
The club wrote: “Football has lost one of its greatest icons. Rest in peace, Diego Maradona.”
