Manchester United boss, Olé Gunnar Solskjaer, has praised the team’s performance against Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday night, while insisting the plan is for the team to finish leaders from the group.
United returned to winning ways in the competition, with an emphatic 4-1 win over the Turkish side, to retain their place as top on the group.
Bruno Fernandes scored a brace, while Marcus Rashford and Daniel James each scored a goal, to ensure the match was ours.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer expressed his joy at the performance. He told BT Sport, “I felt first half you could see our intent right away. The lads wanted to enjoy themselves and we created chances and scored some nice goals.
“Donny [van de Beek] can play in different positions and Edinson [Cavani] is a good old-fashioned number nine and we haven’t had that for a while and I was happy with how Anthony [Martial] played off the left.
“We need one more point to go through, but we want to top the group, that’s our aim,” he concluded.
