Ahead of tonight’s crunch Champions League meeting between Manchester United and Istanbul Basaksehir, former Red Devil, Michael Owen, has offered his prediction.
United were beaten 2-1 in Turkey the last time both sides met, but between then and now, we have won two Premier League matches on the bounce.
While speaking on what he expects the outcome of the game to be, Owen predicted a Manchester United victory.
He told BetVictor, “I was covering Manchester United’s home match against West Brom and it wasn’t pretty.
“United huffed and puffed and finally got their 1-0 win but West Brom were unlucky not to get a point. If travelling Istanbul Basaksehir watched the match, it will only give them hope that they can get something here.
“That said, winning is never a bad thing and United come into this having won both matches since their defeat to their upcoming opponents in Turkey.
“United had a great result in their last UEFA Champions League match at Old Trafford when they thumped Leipzig 5-0, and if they can find that type of performance again, they should pick up a valuable 3 points.”
Owen’s prediction: 2-0 to Manchester United.
