Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has weighed in on the penalty debate involving teammate Bruno Fernandes in our home win over West Brom on Saturday.
The Serbian has revealed that the Portugal international told his United teammates he made contact with the ball after conceding a penalty against West Brom at Old Trafford.
Matic believes the right decision was ultimately made by the match officials.
He said: “Bruno said straight away that he had the ball at first.
“The referee gave the penalty but VAR is there to see and to make correct decisions. That’s why people made VAR, to reduce the mistakes and to give correct decisions.
“I think it was not a penalty and I’m happy that he overturned.”
