Manchester United player linked with January transfer to Premier League club

According to reports, Premier League side Southampton are interested in signing Manchester United youngster Brandon Williams on loan in January, but they face competition with a number of other clubs also keen on the defender.

The 20-year-old has struggled for game time this season with the club well-stocked at left-back position with Luke Shaw starting the season as first choice left-back and Alex Telles arriving from Porto during the transfer window.

Despite making 17 Premier League appearances last season, Williams is yet to appear in the league this campaign.

Report from The Athletic claim Southampton want to bring him to St Mary’s to offer competition to first choice left-back Ryan Bertrand.

It is left to be seen if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will allow the defender leave on loan.

When asked about Williams last week the Norwegian said: “I am starting to see the Brandon I saw last season, which I have to see more. If he keeps on doing what he did last season he’ll be fine.”
