Matic demands more from the forward players

Nemanja Matic has urged his Manchester United teammates to be more clinical in front of goal, to avoid the type of pressure they came under against West Brom yesterday.

United won the game 1-0, and could have scored more, but on the night, our finishing just wasn’t good enough.

West Brom could also have had a number of chances to get back at United, including an effort that hit the crossbar, however, we hung on to take all three points.

Speaking to MUTV after the match, Matic stressed the need for the players to improve going forward, especially when already in the driver’s seat.

“When we score first we have to go on and kill the game as soon as possible, especially in the Premier League,” he said. “We have to improve on that.

“Every team has quality, every team is dangerous. One-nil is not enough. They almost scored, they had one hit the crossbar. So they were always dangerous.

“We have to make sure that next time we have more concentration in attack and make sure we try to kill the game early.”

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford were not in their elements on Saturday night, but perhaps, we can blame that on having just recovered from injuries.
