Former Aston Villa striker, Darren Bent has claimed that Paul Pogba’s lack of consistency at Manchester United is the reason he is targeted by critics.
The Frenchman didn’t play against West Brom on Saturday, after suffering an injury problem, as revealed by Solskjaer, but prior to the match, he had been the subject of an attack from football fans and some pundits.
And Bent believes that Pogba must improve and be more consistent to make them stop.
He told talkSPORT, “We all know Paul Pogba is a top player, but unfortunately he has not shown it consistently enough at Manchester United, and that’s why a lot of people get on his back.
The 36 year old however, suggested there may be a witch-hunt against Pogba, who impressed for France during the international break last week.
He added, “But I do also think that there is a kind of witch-hunt against him. If anything goes wrong at Manchester United, even if he is not playing, he is sitting on the bench, and people are like, ‘You know what the problem is? Manchester United were terrible, but Paul Pogba is affecting the dressing room.'”
