Manchester United may be facing one of their worst injury crisis in a while, as the club looks set to be without up to 9 players for Saturday’s clash with West Brom.
Marcus Rashford had to pull out of England’s squad for the UEFA Nations League, after picking up a shoulder problem against Arsenal.
The 23 year old seems to have gotten better, but reports say his chances are 50:50, meaning he remains a doubt for this weekend.
Another major doubt for the encounter is Anthony Martial, who starred for France in their 1-0 win over Portugal on Saturday. The player missed his side’s game against Sweden, after picking up a back injury in the previous game, and is yet to be certified completely fit for Saturday.
Victor Lindelof also picked up a back injury in the game between France and Sweden, and is now rated 50:50 to play this weekend.
Mason Greenwood didn’t play against Everton due to an unnamed illness, according to Olé Gunnar Solskjaer, so until he’s passed ‘fit’, the forward is also a doubt for the match against The Baggies.
Over the course of the week, Edinson Cavani’s health became a cause for concern, after 11 of his Uruguay teammates tested positive for Covid-19.
While the player may be safe and uninfected, considering he may have immunity, it isn’t yet clear if he’s going to be available to play, pending when Solskjaer gives an update.
Eric Bailly, Luke Shaw and Phil Jones are all also ruled out with different injuries, while Jesse Lingard remains a doubt, despite resuming training recently.
If all of United’s main forwards are not available for the match, it leaves Odion Ighalo as the only one who can play upfront, and that definitely puts us in a precarious position.
