West Brom goalie Sam Johnstone has revealed the classy message sent to him by Manchester United goalie David De Gea after West Brom’s promotion push.
The United academy graduate is set to return to Old Trafford in our Premier League clash against West Brom this weekend.
He also named the Spaniard as his inspiration during his time at the club.
West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone told WBA TV: “We still keep in contact now. He [David De Gea] did message me last year and he said ‘I want to see you in the Premier League’.
“It’s nice to get messages like that. Just watching him everyday. In the gym, just around the place, training.
“Before games, when we travelled, he was very relaxed and confident in his own ability, and obviously very good.
“In warm-ups, watching him, you can’t get much better from that. I was learning from him every single day. He’s a good person.”
Johnstone is yet to miss a single minute of action for the Baggies this season after a tough fight to secure promotion from the Championship in the previous campaign.
