Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their quest to sign RB Leipzig defender, Dayot Upamecano.
The young centre back has been on United’s radar for weeks, despite signing a contract extension with Leipzig weeks ago.
But according to German news outlet, Bild, the player may be available for sale sooner than expected, as Leipzig look to make the most of the interest he’s currently attracting from some of Europe’s top sides.
Upamecano has a release clause of £40 million, which makes him relatively affordable for the likes of United and Liverpool, who are said to also be interested, given their recent injury crisis.
Bayern were earlier this week, also reported to be interested in the 22 year old, but Bild say the German club consider him out of their league for now.
The outlet also adds that Upamecano could be allowed to leave as early as January, despite his recent extension, which means United may have the chance to add the quality centre back to their ranks, and solve their defensive problems sooner than expected.
