Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire was full of delight, after achieving a feat that many only dream of doing in their football career.
The Manchester United captain, was chosen to lead England when they played against the Republic of Ireland, in the absence of Harry Kane, during a recent international friendly.
Maguire opened the scoring for the Three Lions before the half-hour mark, before goals from Borussia Dortmund star, Jadon Sancho and the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it 3-0.
It was Maguire’s 28th appearance for England, and there couldn’t have been a more fitting way to mark the occasion.
After the match, the defender took to his Twitter, to reveal his delight at managing the feat. He replied to a tweet from the England national team’s official handle, saying, “An honour to captain my country last night. A real proud moment”.
Maguire has had a hard start to the new season, but finally, things seem to be clicking for the former Leicester man.
