Brazil head coach, Rodrigo Lasmar has given an update on the health condition of his squad, after one of his players, Gabriel Menino, tested positive for coronavirus.
The Palmeiras midfielder was confirmed positive after Thursday’s round of testing, and is now expected to go into self-isolation.
However, Rodrigo added that the rest of his players have tested negative, including Alex Telles, who came in contact with Menino earlier this week.
He said, “In the tests carried out yesterday, Gabriel Menino tested positive for Covid-19. All other players in the group tested negative.
“It is important to note that, on Monday, when the players arrived, all members of the delegation were tested and the results were negative.
“We have already informed the medical department of Palmeiras. The player is asymptomatic, is already isolated and has been cut from the squad.
“All protective measures are being taken. We will perform a new round of tests before our trip to Uruguay, after the game [against Venezuela].”
There are rumours that Telles will have to self-isolate as well due to his contact with Menino, but if that happens, it could be bad for United, who have already lost Luke Shaw to injury.
