Netherlands legend Rafael Van der Vaart has urged Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek not to accept his role on the United substitute bench.

The former Spurs midfielder believes his compatriot is better than some of the players chosen ahead of him at United.

“Wait? Patience? Would you like it if you are stuck on the bench?” former Tottenham Hotspur star Rafael Van der Vaart told NOS after Donny van de Beek indicated that he’s ready to be patient for receiving more opportunities at Man United.

“The players in front of you can’t even kick a marble and [Solskjaer] still does not put you in the team. I would not be happy. I would certainly not be enjoying my football there.

“Look at the player Donny is and how he performs at international level. I would not have it.”

The Dutch midfielder sealed a £40m summer move to Old Trafford from Ajax, and has found games hard to come by but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised the player will get his chance.
