Donny van de Beek has told Olé Gunnar Solskjaer he deserves to play more for Manchester United, following his recent involvement in the Netherlands’ friendly against Spain.
The 23 year old has made just a handful of appearances for United this season, after his big money move from Ajax in September, and they were mostly from the bench.
However, the Dutchman was fully involved, and got his side the equaliser in their recent encounter with Spain, to make a case as to why he should feature more Solskjaer’s team.
Speaking after the match, he told the media, “It sounds cliche for me to say this, because of course I would have liked to play more, but I really enjoy being in a nice team.
“I am simply received very well and helped by everyone.
“I’m a patient person, but of course you go there to play as much as possible. I also think – in the minutes that I have made, in the times that I have come in – I have shown that I can add something to the team.”
van de Beek has definitely shown he can be important to United if give the chance, but it’s been increasingly difficult for the chances to come, with Solskjaer still trying to find the right balance for the team.
