Borussia Dortmund bosses are worried and alarmed that Jadon Sancho is yet to hit the ground running this season, after impressing last term.
The 20 year old scored 17 and assisted 16 for the Bundesliga side last campaign, which saw him attract interest form a number of Europe’s bigwigs, including Manchester United.
United were after the player for most of the summer transfer window, but failed to cough up the £108 million asking price of Dortmund.
Now, the player appears to be struggling to replicate his form from last season, and a few club officials are concerned.
Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten after Dortmund’s 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich last weekend, their director, Michael Zorc said of Sancho’s form, “He has had better and more efficient games.
“He’s lacking a bit of natural lightness at the moment. Of course we speak to him, but it’s not something you can rediscover just by talking.”
Dortmund coach, Lucien Favre is also astounded over the forward’s struggles this season, and claims he’s not in his best shape for now.
He added, “You can’t be in top shape for a year. If it’s not 100 per cent for a month, we have to accept that.”
Manchester United are reportedly still keen on signing the Englishman, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens with that in the coming weeks.
