Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has questioned Paul Pogba’s future at Man United, after seeing the star axed from Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting eleven.
United took on the Toffees on Saturday in an all important match, with Solskjaer’s future seemingly hanging in the balance.
And to execute the task ahead, the Norwegian chose to go with his popular midfield diamond system, which had Scott McTominay and Fred just ahead of the backline, with Bruno Fernandes sitting before them.
The decision meant that Pogba was dropped to the bench, and it wasn’t the first time this season, and Ferdinand believes the 27 year old would be wondering where his future lies following the decision.
Speaking on BT Sport, the former defender said, “If I am sitting there and I am Paul Pogba I am going ‘wow, I am not in his best team’ he needs to pull out a result, he is under immense pressure today and I am on the bench, what does that say to the likes of Paul Pogba?
“If I am Pogba I am thinking ‘where do I lie in his plans?’ For Ole, I think the two in front of the back four are his insurance policy and that front four has got to go and produce.”
Interestingly, Solskjaer’s decision paid off, as United ran out with all three points.
