Colombian superstar, James Rodriguez, has lifted the lid on his failed move to Manchester United a few years ago.
The former Real Madrid man had been approached by United for a move in 2012, while he still played with FC Porto, but the move didn’t happen, and instead, he moved to Monaco a year later.
In a recent interview with BT Sport, the talented footballer was asked to comment on what truly transpired at the time, and he said, “I believe it was in 2012.
“The club [Man Utd] had offered me something, but in the end that didn’t happen because of some reason, I don’t know.
“But well – football always leads you to the correct path, to a team where you can actually play well.”
Rodriguez went on to add, “If it didn’t happen, it was for some consistent reason.
“Maybe I wasn’t ready for it, or maybe it was because I was made to play in another great team.
“In the end, I had the opportunity to go to France, and that was the path that I could follow.”
Rodriguez later joined Real Madrid, but he never quite reached the heights expected of him, before sealing a move to Everton this summer.
