Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has insisted everyone in the team is to blame for our humiliating 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir.
The Turkish champions secured their first-ever win at our expense due to our poor defensive display which shot us at the Achilles.
Netherlands international Donny van de Beek expressed his disappointment with the performance of the team and the final result.
“I’m disappointed,” Van de Beek, who was handed a rare start, told BT Sport shortly after the final whistle.
“I think we started okay in the first ten minutes and then we gave a goal away, I don’t know how.
“After that, I think we lost confidence and we can play much better.”
Asked whether the defence could have done better for Basaksehir’s goals, Van de Beek replied: “We are a team and everybody has a responsibility.
“As I said before, I think we can play much better.”
The Netherlands midfielder admits we created far too few opportunities in Istanbul to win the game in Turkey.
“Yes, I had this feeling really and there was also a lot of space to play and create something,” he added.
“But I think today we created not many chances.’
“For them it was really nice but, for us, we’re really disappointed and we need to improve a lot,” the Dutchman continued.
“We are United and we need to improve.
“The games before like the last game against Arsenal was the same, we played not our best game and now we have to step up for the game against Everton.”
