Former Tottenham midfielder, Glenn Hoddle has suggested that Aaron Wan-Bissaka be deployed to a new position by Olé Gunnar Solskjaer.
The English currently plays as a right-back for United, but Hoddle believes he’ll be more useful if played as a right-sided centre back.
He told Premier League Productions, “If you’re playing with a diamond your full-backs have got to be really good players on the ball.
“[Aaron] Wan-Bissaka is one of the best defenders in the league, there’s no doubt about that. Is he the best in the attacking third in the opponents’ half?
He added, “No, he’s not. But he’s going to end up with a lot of the ball, if they’re so tight in midfield they’re going to end up playing to their full-backs.
“They’ve been inconsistent in the shapes that they’ve been playing. He’s trying to find a spine and his best shape.
“Wan-Bissaka in a back three would work for me as the right-sided centre back. I would love to see him play there, I think he’d be brilliant there.
“But then you’re changing the shape of your whole team, he has played three at the back this year and he could play that.”
Wan-Bissaka is a defensively solid player, so we can see why Hoddle wants him playing as a centre back, but do you think he can thrive in that position?
