Former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov has warned the Red Devils not to allow their recent upturn in form deceive them into thinking they can cruise to the league title just yet.

United haven’t tasted defeat in four matches, after losing 6-1 to Tottenham before the international break, and there’s an air of confidence about the team.

However, Berbatov, who watched his former side thrash RB Leipzig 5-0 at home on Wednesday believes that despite the good run of form, more needs to be done before United are considered title contenders.

He told BetFair: “Ole deserves credit for performances like this, it can’t be a situation where good results are the players, the bad results are the manager, that does not work.

“I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that United all of a sudden can win the Premier League or the Champions League, it is too early and they need to become that word again – consistent.

“They have lacked this over the last while, if they find that then we can wonder about titles, but they need to win games regularly.”
