Former Manchester United midfielder, Rio Ferdinand, has insisted he doesn’t see his former side winning the competition this season.

The Red Devils have started the competition well, winning two of the games they’ve played so far, despite coming up against tough opposition like Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.

But when asked to share his thoughts on the possible winners of the competition this season, Ferdinand told BT Sport, “I don’t think Manchester United are one of the teams we could put as Champions League favourites. I think they will do well to get out of the group. Consistency is the key for United and improving.

“I want to see exciting football and when Manchester City are flying they are exciting to watch. I still feel Bayern Munich and Liverpool l are a stronger outfit so I probably put Man City around the third or fourth choice for me.”

It’s always good to be the underdog in a competition like this.

The Red Devils just need to keep up the good work, and we could be celebrating the trophy come 2021.
