Manchester United legend Darren Fletcher has joined the club’s U16 coaching staff.

The former United midfielder will be expected to basically provide help in coaching youngsters. He also expressed his delight in returning back to the club in a coaching capacity.

“I’m just getting my coaching badges done and being invited back into the club. I’ve got a bit of spare time in the evenings and I thought there’s nothing better than doing something at United and giving a bit back, working at the Academy,” Darren has told Manchester United’s official website.

“It [United] is a club that means a lot to me, so it ticks both boxes really. It allows me to get my coaching badges done and give a bit back to the Academy kids. Do you know what? I’ve really enjoyed it,” he added.

According to Transfer markt, the Scot made 342 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 29 assists.

The 36-year-old won all of his trophies (15) at Old Trafford, including the 2007/08 Champions League.
