Manchester United boss, Olé Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will continue taking the penalties at the club when they come, despite the midfielder missing two in a row.
Fernandes, who is known to be ruthless from the penalty spot missed a penalty against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, although he later buried it when the referee ordered a retake.
The Portuguese also missed a penalty against Newcastle United last weekend, but Solskjaer isn’t concerned by the misses, and says the former Sporting Lisbon man will continue to take the spot kicks.
In his words to BT Sport after United’s 2-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, the Norwegian said, “Bruno Fernandes missed two penalties in a row but he’s not going to stop taking them – he showed focus and character.”
Truly, Fernandes has shown he is mentally strong and that is the way of a leader. Despite missing the penalties on both occasion, he went on to score for the club, and we hope the strong mindset continues.
