Olé Gunnar Solskjaer is a happy man, after seeing his Manchester United side get an emphatic victory over Newcastle United at St James Park on Saturday night.

The Red Devils went into the game needing the win badly, especially with Solskjaer’s job looking more unassured than ever.

But goals from Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, were enough to get the job done, and the Norwegian cannot hide his satisfaction.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the coach said, “Great result and great character to come back, led by a very inspirational captain. The boys came together really well. The are looking forward to every game. Today I rested a few and they have come on and done the business for us.

“Harry Maguire scored and leads by example. He showed good character, I am happy for him. He had a couple of difficult weeks since he last played for us. The season started for us today. We have come up to the speed of the game and that showed today.”

Solskjaer will now be hoping to keep the momentum going, especially with Paris Saint-Germain coming next in the UEFA Champions League next week.
