Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has hit out at the British media for putting immense pressure on Edinson Cavani.
The Bulgarian has backed the Uruguayan to succeed and silence his critics whom he has described as people who ‘have short memories’ of football.
“It is the same in Spain and England against him [Cavani], the media seem to want his head,” Dimitar Berbatov has told Betfair.
“People have short memories in this game, and I sympathise with him a lot. He probably thinks ‘what the f**k is going on here’,” the ex-United striker added.
Edinson Cavani’s arrival at Old Trafford has been criticised with many suggesting he is not the kind of player the club should have signed due to his age and wage demands.
The 33-year-old will be wearing the club’s iconic No. 7 shirt this season.
