Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has backed his compatriot Edinson Cavani to emulate the success of forrmer Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Uruguayan moved to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day following his exit from PSG at the end of last season.
Despite scoring 200 goals in 301 appearances for the French champions, the 33-year old’s ability to deliver for United has been questioned due to his age.
Former United striker Forlan has described Cavani as a great player and is confident he can be a great addition to the club.
“Edinson is still a great player,” Forlan told the South China Morning Post.
“I’ve not seen any decline in him yet.
“I think he’s a top signing for United, just like Zlatan was. He’s that type of player.
“He’ll lead by example, by how he trains and how he plays. He’ll be a positive influence for the young players.
“He’s a winner who has won lots of trophies, a goalscorer who has scored wherever he has been, he assists too.
“He’s strong and his physique will be fine for English football. He’s quick, he’s highly motivated.”
