According to reports, Manchester United have made Sevilla defender Jules Kounde a top target for the club ahead of the January transfer window.
Manage Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to shore up his defence that has conceded the second highest number of goals in the Premier League only behind West Bromwich Albion and wants the powerful central defender to help fix his leaky defence.
The 21-year-old was a summer transfer target for rivals Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola opted to land Ruben Dias from Benfica instead.
Kounde only moved to Sevilla in 2019 from Bordeaux for around £22million, but has an £82m release clause on his Sevilla contract and the LaLiga side are adamant they will not let him leave for less than his valuation.
The player was impressive for the Spanish side last season playing 40 times in all competitions including in their Europa League final win over Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ move for the player is dependent on whether we can shift unwanted defenders in the team.
Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are still on the wage bill while one of Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly will also likely need to leave.
Solskjaer is looking for a partner alongside Harry Maguire having conceded a staggering 11 goals in our opening three matches.
