Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to blame the defenders after another average performance against Brighton.

The Norwegian also admitted the defender needs to improve and has promised to work on it.

Speaking about whether Man United need to sign better centre-backs going forward, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We’ve got many defenders here and I put Eric (Bailly) on to bolster the defence, following the runs of (Leandro) Trossard and (Neal) Maupay.

“We’ve got enough good centre-backs here at the moment. When you concede chances and concede goals there are two different things you can look at: the team shape or individual mistakes. For me, we’re not in our best shape of form, our shape isn’t there we’re not sharp enough to stop crosses and runs.

“We’re a little bit behind and that’s structural runs. I thought Victor did well today.”

The defence conceded two and had their blushes saved by Bruno Fernandes’ late penalty that snatched all three points for United in a pulsating encounter at the Amex Stadium.
