Sky Sports have tendered an unreserved apology to Wilfried Zaha, David Moyes and anyone else who may have been offended, after Patrice Evra’s comments about them on Saturday.
Prior to the Manchester United Vs Crystal Palace clash, the former Red Devil had suggested Zaha was frozen out of United’s starting lineup after he allegedly had an affair with the daughter of then United boss Moyes.
Evra said: “We all know Wilfried Zaha is better than Crystal Palace, with all due respect, he’s such an electric player.
“I think what ruined his career for Manchester United is when he had this true or untrue affair with David Moyes’ daughter. Because I remember in pre-season he was playing in every game, but when that news came out… he was out of the game and he disappeared.”
However, the allegation was an unfounded one, and Sky Sports pundit, Kelly Cates made sure to correct the impression and apologize for it.
He said after the game, “We have to clarify a comment made earlier in the programme, suggesting that there may have been a relationship between Wilfried Zaha and David Moyes’ daughter.
“We understand that Wilfried Zaha has never met David Moyes’ daughter and that the claim made by Patrice was false. We apologise for any offence caused.”
