Renowned transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has put to bed certain rumours carried in a section of the media, saying that former Manchester United star Memphis Depay is being considered for a move by Manchester United.
The Red Devils had included a clause in Depay’s contract when they sold him to Lyon years ago, which gives them the right to first refusal, should the Dutchman want to leave.
But according to Fabrizio, United have no interests whatsoever in resigning the forward, and he is closer than ever to completing a move to Barcelona.
The 26 year old was sold by United in 2017, after failing to live up to expectations, and has since upped his game in France, where he has become one of Lyon’s best players.
Barca who have failed to replace Neymar, have been looking for a star signing for consecutive seasons, but it hasn’t worked with Phillippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann or Ousmane Dembele.
Hopefully, Depay will give them what they want. But for United, the club will rather go for Jadon Sancho.
