Premier League legend, Alan Shearer, has expressed concern over the current challenge facing Manchester United target, Gareth Bale, at Real Madrid.
The Welshman has seen game time diminish under current manager, Zinedine Zidane, and is desperate for a new club.
Manchester United and Tottenham are a few of the clubs reportedly interested in the 31 year old, and shearer believes it is vital he leaves Madrid to save his career.
Speaking to Coral recently, the former Newcastle striker said, “I hope somewhere along the line Gareth Bale can get back playing football and hopefully that can be in the Premier League.
“Whether he goes back to Tottenham, there’s been talk of Manchester United in recent seasons, but he should be playing somewhere. He possibly wouldn’t walk into all the teams in the top six in the Premier League.
“It’s going to take a wealthy club to be able to afford a transfer fee and a salary to get Bale there. Whether clubs can do that outside the top six remains to be seen, but he’s got to be playing football rather than being sat on the bench.”
Bale currently earns £600k a week, but Madrid are said to be willing to pay half of it, just to see the former Tottenham star leave and get off their wage bill.
Man United are reportedly looking to sign Bale on a loan deal, if their pursuit of Jadon Sancho fails to be successful.
