According to reports, the UK Government has cancelled plans for fans to return to stadiums.

On Wednesday, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that fans won’t be allowed to return to stadiums next month due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has condemned the decision as he fears it would have strong financial implications with regards to losses on matchday revenue for Premier League clubs.

Masters told the BBC: “We have to get back to fans inside stadia as quickly as possible – that’s the big thing that’s missing, economic or otherwise – we need fans back inside stadiums for all sorts of reasons.”

Meanwhile, the club were hoping to let in about 12,000 supporters at Old Trafford for the opening game of the new season against Crystal Palace on September 19 but that no longer appears to be a possibility.
