Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged the club to sign free agent Edinson Cavani this summer.
The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
The Uruguayan scored 138 times in 200 Ligue 1 games over a seven-year spell at PSG, in which he won six league titles.
The Uruguayan – who has also scored 50 goals in 116 appearances for his country has begun talks with Portuguese side Benfica over a possible move.
Ex-United striker Saha feels his former side would be missing out by not making a move for Cavani.
“I think Manchester United are missing a trick by not signing Edinson Cavani this summer,” Saha said speaking exclusively to the Football Index Podcast.
“I’ve followed him for many years and I’m gutted there doesn’t seem to be an interest there.
“For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer. Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset. He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market.”
