Manchester United are ready to rival Chelsea for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen ace, Kai Havertz, if the Jadon Sancho deal fails to happen.
The 20 year old Borussia Monchengladbach forward remains Olé Gunnar Solskjaer main target this summer, but Dortmund are firm on their £109 million valuation of his services.
United have been trying to negotiate a favourable payment plan, but that hasn’t worked out so far, as the Englishman has already travelled with the German side for their pre-season preparations.
In place of Sancho, United are said to be considering Havertz, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Chelsea these past few weeks.
The versatile player is valued at £90 million by Leverkusen, but Chelsea are confident of negotiating something less than that.
Havertz himself is said to be keen on a move away from Germany, as he looks to enjoy some Champions League football.
Prior to now, Leverkusen were adamant he wouldn’t go anywhere until their participation in the Europa League was over, and after crashing out 2-1 to Inter Milan on Monday, the player may well now be available to move elsewhere.
