Ex- Inter Milan player, Andreas Brehme, has expressed confidence the Italian side will beat Manchester United if both teams come up against each other in the Europa League final.
Inter have been impressive so far in the competition, and have a strong chance of reaching the final if they beat Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.
Meanwhile, United progressed to the quarter finals stage, after overcoming LASK Linz 7-1 on aggregate last Wednesday, and many have tipped them as favourites in the compensation.
However, Brehme, is adamant the Red Devils do not pose a threat, and says his former side are the stronger team, and they’ll beat United if they face each other.
He told Gazzetta dello sport, via Goal, “I have no doubt, for me it’s Inter.
“The Nerazzurri are a great team, although Bayer Leverkusen are strong and have an excellent forward like Havertz, but Conte’s squad takes the lead.
“I’d say, whoever wins this game has a great chance of raising the Europa League [trophy]. The semi-final against either Shakht ar Donetsk or Basel is winnable.
“On the other side of the bracket, I think Manchester United will qualify for the finals. But both Inter and Bayer are stronger than the English club.”
We can’t deny the fact that Inter are a strong side, especially with the likes of Romelu Lukaku firing in goals for them, but Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s team has proven this season, it can win even the ‘best’ sides on their day.
The competition does look interesting, and it would be move to see how things shape up from here.
