Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has told his former side to quickly wrap up a deal to bring Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, despite concerns over how he may adapt.
The 20 year old enjoyed a fruitful season with Borussia Dortmund in 2019/20, and has been top on United’s priority list of targets in the summer transfer window.
United have been in negotiations with the Bundesliga club over a potential move to Old Trafford for the Englishman, but talks are said to have broken down over the right price.
Despite Sancho’s impressive form last season, there are people who believe signing him could disrupt the smooth flowing attack United currently has, with the likes of Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, but Ferdinand believes these concerns are pointless.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Club 2020 Daily show about the player he’d love to see at United, the former defender said: “I think it’s the same player on everyone’s lips: Jadon Sancho. A bit of flair.”
Some of the other people on the show then argued United already have a lot of forwards, to which Ferdinand replied: “I don’t care!
“You can’t ever have enough of them.
“Man United back in the day, you always remember four strikers battling it out to play their role at any given part of the season. You need that.”
Jadon Sancho is said to have rejoined Dortmund ahead of their pre-season preparations, and his United future seems impossible at the moment, after the club’s failure to meet Dortmund’s deadline of wrapping the deal up by August 10.
