Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, has revealed Jadon Sancho will not be leaving the club this summer, after talks for a transfer reportedly broke down between them and Manchester United.
The Red Devils were hopeful of negotiating a favourable deal for both clubs, but Dortmund have been insistent on getting their £108 million valuation of the Englishman.
In a press conference earlier on Monday, Zorc all but ended any hope of the player coming to Old Trafford this summer, as he revealed he’s been offered a contract extension, which will see him stay in Germany till 2023.
In his own words, “We plan with Jadon Sancho. He’ll play for us next season. The decision is final.
“I think that answers all of the questions. We adjusted Jadon’s salary to match his performances last summer. In this context, we have extended the contract until [the summer of] 2023.”
This is a very sad news for all United fans, who were confident the club’s first signing would be Sancho.
Now, Olé Gunnar Solskjaer will have to look elsewhere, as the player is also said to have travelled with Dortmund, as they plan to train ahead of the coming season.
