Contrary to initial reports that Chris Smalling will return to Old Trafford, to be a part of Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s team next season, there’s belief the player could still be out before the end of the summer transfer window.
Account to Metro, AS Roma has submitted an improved offer for the 30 year old, as they try to bring him back to Italy.
The Italian side had let Smalling go at the end of his loan contract with them, after talks for a renewal broke down with Manchester United, due to differences in valuations.
However, if this report is to be taken seriously, Roma remain interested in the Englishman, and will now hope for a positive responses form United.
Smalling enjoyed a good spell with Roma last season, where he made 37 appearances across all competitions, and helped them to fifth place in the Serie A.
