According to recent report, Manchester United paid an astonishing £9 million to get rid of flop Alexis Sanchez as the winger finally put an end to his torrid spell at Old Trafford by securing a free transfer to Italian side Inter Milan.
The Chilean scored just five goals in 45 appearances for the Red Devils before making the move to San Siro.
After struggling with injury in the early parts of the season, the 31-year-old rediscovered his form and convinced Antonio Conte to sign him.
Reports from the Daily Mail claim that the player still had two years remaining on his contract at the club which was worth up to £560,000-a-week.
The club considers the £9m pay off good business against the £50 million he would have earned if hence was to see out the remaining two years of his deal.
The Chilean has taken a considerable pay cut to join the Serie A side, with his new three-year contract worth £130,000-a-week.
Speaking after United’s 2-1 win over LASK on Wednesday night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered the forward his well wishes for his new role at Inter.
“They’ve liked him, so of course that’s a good move for him,” Solskjaer said.
“Wish him all the best. He’s a top player, that we want to see play his best football.
“For whatever reason, we didn’t see the best of Alexis, but he’s a top professional and we just wish him all the best.”
