Manchester United boss, Olé Gunnar Solskjaer, has sent a warm message to fans of the club in Beirut and Lebanon, following the explosions on Tuesday.
Reacting to the sad news after United’s victory over LASK Linz, the Norwegian said: “Our thoughts are with all our friends and fans in Beirut and Lebanon. Stay strong!”
The Lebanese capital was earlier in the week, hit with a massive explosion that left thousands injured, and many others dead.
The injury toll as at when compiling this report was at 5,000, and the death toll has been put at 135.
It isn’t clear what really triggered the blast, which happened in the port area of Beirut, but experts believe it could be because of the over 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that were being stored.
A two-week state of emergency has been declared by the Lebanese government, as investigation is conducted on the matter.
