Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard, has expressed belief the club can lift this season’s Europa League trophy, after top four success in the premier league.
United overcame a slow start to the season, and finished the season unbeaten in the league after the restart, and Lingard believes winning a trophy would be a befitting way to cap off their success.
Speaking recently to the club’s official website, he said: “The pressure is off a little bit, but we as Man United want to win trophies and the Europa League is a special tournament and we want to come away from the season with silverware under our belt..
“Tournament football is a lot different to club football and like I say you have to adapt quickly to the surroundings and things like that.
“The majority of the team has experienced tournament football, maybe when they were younger or even recently. So everyone has a taste for it and will be able to adapt pretty quickly to it.
Lingard continued: “The best feelings of being a footballer is to lift silverware. We’ve already lifted the Europa League and had that experience and it took a lot of hard work.
“The team stuck together through the hard times and the good ones, and we got through it in the end, and I don’t see why we can’t win it again.”
Lingard was on target on Wednesday, as United beat a much better LASK Linz side 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Anthony Martial was also on target in the victory, and United are now in the last eight, and a step closer to winning the competition.
