Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken about Phil Jones’ surprise inclusion in his 30 man squad list, saying he’s closer to full fitness, and should be available to play soon.
Jones hasn’t been lucky with injuries, and he’d be pleased to be part of the squad yet again, although Solskjaer has revealed that he isn’t match fit yet.
“Phil has been training here, he’s not been not match-fit, but he’s been getting closer, so maybe he can join in in Germany,” he said.
“We’ll see how he progresses over the next few days.”
He added: “Axel started to get niggles early on when we restarted, and he had an operation in his foot, so he’ll be back early September-ish.
“The same with Luke. He sustained an injury against Southampton and he’ll be ready again early September, so they both should be ready for when the league starts.”
United will go into the match with a 5-0 advantage, and only need not lose by 5 goals to ensure qualification into the quarter finals.
