Former Manchester United striker, Robin Van Persie, has revealed training with the legendary Ryan Giggs during his time at Old Trafford helped him get better as a player.
Speaking to the United Podcast recently, the Dutchman recounted his experience training with the legend, adding he often triggered him with his displays.
“He was such a classy player and a fantastic guy,” he said.
“He was one of the players as well who really triggered me to give my absolute best in every single training session.
“Because the stuff he did at 38 and 39 at that time… He was doing some unbelievable stuff in training, like no-look passes, some crosses where you think ‘why is he giving that ball?’ and then suddenly everything clicks a few seconds later.
“I was really enjoying the training and sometimes I was just laughing, because I was really enjoying the session and the actions from guys like him.”
Van Persie and Giggs didn’t play together for long, but the short time they had together surely rubbed off on him positively, if he’s raving about it like this.
The former Arsenal man enjoyed a good spell at United, as he scored an amazing 58 goals in 105 appearances, and won the Premier League in his debut season at old Trafford.
