Borussia Dortmund are close to sealing a deal for Memphis Depay, who will serve as replacement for the Manchester United-bound Jadon Sancho, according to Bild.
Dortmund and United are locked in negotiations over a summer move for Sancho, who is valued at £110 million, and the German club have identified the Lyon forward as the ideal player to fill his shoes.
Depay joined Lyon from Manchester United in 2015, after an impressive season with PSV Eindhoven, however, the 26 year old couldn’t replicate the form at Old Trafford, and was sold in January 2017.
Despite being one of Lyon’s best players, Depay is expected to be a cheap replacement for Sancho, as he has just one year remaining on his contract with the French club.
If the report is valid, it means that Sancho’s deal to United is only a step closer to becoming a reality.
