Manchester United wrapped up a brilliant Premier League season with a third place finish on Sunday, after a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Leicester City, at the King Power stadium.
The journey wasn’t an easy one, as the players had to play through harsh conditions sometimes, including in empty stadiums, but they did it, and it was all worth it in the end.
But the football season is far from over, as United are still involved in the Europa League, with the reverse tie against LASK Linz in the round of 16, coming up on August 8.
Ahead of the match, Bruno Fernandes recently spoke to MUTV, and revealed he’s completely focused on the competition.
He said: “Now our focus is on the Europa League because this is a really good trophy and we want to win. I came to Manchester to win trophies. We need to play every game to win. If we go into the Europa League and win every game, we know we’ll win the trophy.”
The Portuguese also expressed excitement in playing in the Champions League, adding that’s where United belong.
“Of course, playing Champions League is always special and I hope it can be with the supporters, that will be more special,” he said. “We deserve to be in the best games, in the best European competition. Nothing against the Europa League, but everyone knows the best competition is the Champions League.
“We trained hard and we worked hard for this moment. We know the only thing we could achieve this season was getting into the Champions League, so we fought hard for that. I think we have qualities enough to fight for some titles – more than one title, you know?”
United are 5-0 up from the first leg of our tie against LASK Linz, and are well placed to advance to the quarter finals.
