Despite initial reports, Manchester United will not be extending the loan deals of Chris Smalling and Alexis Sanchez.
The forward and defender have been on loan at Inter Milan and AS Roma since last summer, and talks have reportedly been ongoing to extend their loan deals.
However, Sky Sports reports that United don’t want to send the players out on loan anymore, because they want to sell them permanently.
Interestingly, both clubs want the players, so we’ll see if they will agree to an outright purchase as opposed to a loan extension.
Sanchez and Smalling’s loan moves were initially set to expire last month, but they were granted an extension due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
If this report is confirmed, they are now expected back in Manchester in the first week of August.
