Manchester United boss Olé Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his thoughts on the importance of Nemanja Matic to the club.

The Serbian has picked form since the league restart, and effectively displaced Fred from the starting lineup, despite the Brazilian’s impact last year, and Solskjaer believes his experience is part of what makes him vital.

Speaking recently on the impact and importance of Matic, the boss man had this to say, “He’s got so much experience and confidence. He’s vital for us in the respect that he’s been around the block, he’s won trophies, he’s calm, composed, he’s a leader.

“In a few games when he’s been on the bench he’s had to come on and grab the players by the neck and calm them down or gee them up. Nemanja has been fantastic since he came back into the team.”

Matic was recently rewarded with a bumper new deal at United, after helping us maintain our top four push, while remaining unbeaten in 19 matches.
