Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident Aubameyang will sign a new contract with the Gunners despite interest from Manchester United.
The Gabon international was twice on target as the Gunners beat Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, and his manager believes he’ll renew his contract with the London club once he sees the direction they want to go in.
Speaking after the match on Saturday, Arteta said: “The way he looks at it when I speak with him, he sounds pretty convinced.
“If he can see the direction we are taking it is the right one, I think he’ll be more positive. Hopefully it will help him to be more convinced we are going in the right direction.”
Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal expires next season, and at 31, the former Borussia Dortmund man is in need of trophies and success.
Manchester United is rumoured to be interested in the star, who could be available on a cheap in the coming weeks.
