Manchester United player described as “unbelievable” by Odion Ighalo and Jesse Lingard

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been described as “unbelievable” by teammates Odion Ighalo and Jesse Lingard for his brilliant performances this season.

The youngster has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season, establishing himself as one of the most highly-rated young players in world football.

Ighalo and Lingard have both hailed Greenwood, with the teenager described as ‘unbelievable’.

Lingard told 90min: “He’s a good lad. He’s humble. He’s obviously waited a long time for his chance, and each time he plays, he produces, he helps the team.

“He’s got skills in his locker, he’s got goals in his locker. He’s really been a driving force for the team.

“Of course, we have a lot of young players as well who can add to the team, and when they get the chance, I’m sure they’ll be ready.

“Like I said, Mason’s took his chance, he’s always been ready, he’s always willing to learn. The most important thing is he’s fully focused and he’s humble at the same time.”

Lingard added: “He’s been scoring goals since he was young. That’s nothing new for him, and he’s obviously brought that to the big stage as well.

“You see him after training, he’s practising every day, he’s working on both feet. I still don’t know what foot he is!

“He might be left, he might be right, but it seems to be working. I’ve seen it in training anyway, the things that he can do, and he’s getting lots of games as well.’

Ighalo has seen his game-time reduced by the emergence of Greenwood but insists it has been a ‘joy’ to watch the teenager and his fellow forwards in action recently.

The Nigeria international told MUTV: “They are doing so well. Seeing them playing every week is a joy.

“Rashford has come back from his injury and is doing well. Martial is scoring goals, Mason Greenwood is unbelievable, he is such a good finisher with both feet.

“The team is doing well and the three forwards are scoring goals and that’s what we need – goals win games. And I don’t forget Bruno [Fernandes] with the assists and goals too. I think the mentality is getting stronger every time.

“As a professional, you have to be ready, you have to have that mental strength to be ready.

“We train hard to keep fit and I’m always ready when I’m called upon, and I will give 100 per cent. You always have to stay focused.”
